Description:

IBM is hiring Software Developers with strong backend and systems-level expertise for its Fabric Development Team, part of IBM Cloud. This team ensures IBM Cloud stays at the forefront of innovation, enabling performance, scalability, resiliency, and security for some of the world’s most demanding workloads. You will work on critical components that power global cloud infrastructure and collaborate across teams to solve complex problems.

Your role will span the entire lifecycle of development, from designing and coding to testing and delivering secure, high-quality software. Alongside innovation, you’ll also focus on usability, scalability, and delivering customer-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing highly scalable backend solutions for IBM Cloud infrastructure
• Building object-oriented PHP applications from prototype to production
• Creating performant REST/SOAP web services and API integrations
• Working with relational databases (SQL) and tuning for performance
• Collaborating with product management and diverse stakeholders to meet business needs
• Writing/debugging backend code and contributing to system reliability via C and PHP
• Maintaining code quality using Git and adhering to best practices
• Driving innovation within infrastructure services and API design

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent (required)
• At least 6+ years of proven experience in backend PHP development
• Strong skills in relational databases, REST APIs, and web application development
• Hands-on experience in debugging and writing C code
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD workflows, and version control with Git
• Bonus skills: Shell scripting, Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Zookeeper, and non-relational data stores
• A strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to collaborate across teams and deliver at scale
